Application Process

The Department of Urology at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center accepts applications and supplemental documents through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and participates in the American Urological Association Urology Residency Match. Deadline for submitting materials is September 20, 2017.

In order for your ERAS application to be complete the following must be submitted. We are aware that some of the required material may not be available by the deadline, however, please ensure your recommendation letters are uploaded by the deadline date.

  • Completed application
  • Personal statement
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Official transcript from your medical school
  • Dean's letter
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • USMLE board scores 

Once the application is completed, the Interview Selection Committee reviews each application and grants a limited number of interviews.   Applicants will be notified in October if they have been selected for an interview.  For additional information, please email Michele Nunez, Program Coordinator, at mn2112@cumc.columbia.edu.

Interviews

2017 Interviews will be conducted on 

  • Friday, October 27, 2017
  • Saturday, December 2, 2017

Interviews are an essential part of our selection process.  The day starts with an introductory presentation from the Chairman and Program Director, followed by interviews with our faculty.  Throughout the day, house staff will take candidates for a tour of the campus and are available for informal discussions.  Breakfast and lunch are provided.  Additionally, the housestaff host an informal gathering the evening prior to interviews.

Selection Process

The final resident selection will be submitted to the AUA Urology Residency Match by January 3, 2018.  Match results will be sent to urology programs, applicants and medical schools on January 18, 2018.
