Our Physicians and Clinical Staff - Sven Wenske, MD

Assistant Professor of Urology, Urologic Oncology

Sven Wenske, MD

Sven Wenske, M.D. is Assistant Professor of Urology at Columbia University Medical Center. His clinical focus is Urologic Oncology, General Urology, Holistic Urology and Cryosurgery in the treatment of Prostate Cancer.

Dr. Wenske trained as Urologist at Columbia University and completed a three-year research Fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center with a focus on the molecular biology, early detection and progression of prostate cancer. He also studied intensively during that time the significance of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) and other human Kallireins, and their impact on the natural course of prostate cancer. Dr. Wenske has offices at the main hospital campus at Herbert-Irving Pavilion, as well as at the 51 West 51st Street location in Midtown.

He conducts research in the Irving Cancer Research Center (ICRC), where he focuses on animal models to study effects of current and new treatment regimens for prostate cancer and its underlying resistance mechanisms to help develop new therapeutic strategies. His research is being currently funded by a Physician Research Training Award of the Prostate Cancer Research Program from the Department of Defense.
