Ketan K. Badani, M.D., is the Director of Robotic and Minimally Invasive Surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University and Associate Professor of Urology at Columbia University. Dr. Badani leads one of the largest and most comprehensive robotic oncology programs in the country. He is one of only a few select surgeons in the world who has performed nearly 2,000 robotic surgeries. He has been doubly awarded by Consumers Research Council in "America's Top Urologists" for the past 4 years, and most recently in past two years, "America's Top Surgeons" for robotic surgery. Dr. Badani is a national and international leader in robotic surgery and has lectured, instructed and performed live robotic demonstrations spanning 5 continents and several countries including the United States, Canada, India, China, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Brazil, and Malaysia.

Dr. Badani is a noted author and lecturer on robotic surgery and has published landmark articles on robotic prostatectomy and enhanced nerve-sparing techniques to preserve sexual function in men after robotic prostatectomy. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, and is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Robotic Surgery. This work has been cited on ABC News, The New York Daily News, NY Press, and his research has been showcased at CBS Studios. His research in surgical technology continues to improve the quality of life for men after robotic surgery while maintaining the highest cancer cure rates.

Dr. Badani is a Summa cum laude graduate of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and did his medical school training at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He completed his residency in urology and fellowship in laparoscopic and robotic surgical oncology at the world renowned Vattikuti Urology Institute in Detroit, Michigan. He is a Diplomat and board certified by the American Board of Urology. Dr. Badani was recruited to Columbia University to lead the Division of Robotic Surgery in 2007. He is active member of the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center where he serves on the Institutional Review Board.
