Erik T. Goluboff, M.D., FACS, is the Director of Urology at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/The Allen Pavilion and a Professor of Clinical Urology at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He is a board certified urologist and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a Magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Columbia College of Columbia University in 1986 and an Alpha Omega Alpha graduate of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1990. He then did a year of general surgical residency at Johns Hopkins followed by a second year of general surgery and 4 years of urology residency at Columbia, finishing in 1996. Dr. Goluboff then did a urologic oncology fellowship at Columbia, sponsored by a Ferdinand C. Valentine Fellowship from the New York Academy of Medicine and a Young Investigator Award from the American Society of Clinical Oncology. During this fellowship, he had additional training in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of urologic cancers such as prostate, bladder, kidney, penis and testis.
Dr. Goluboff has won many awards during his almost 2 decades in urology, including the Young Investigator Award from the National Kidney Foundation, First Prize Laboratory Investigation-Valentine Essay Contest New York Academy of Medicine, Honorable Mention- Valentine Essay Contest New York Academy of Medicine, and a Pfizer Scholar in Urology Award (twice). Since Dr. Goluboff began leading the urology service at the Allen Pavilion in 1998, it has grown astronomically; there are currently 12,000 outpatients seen and over 700 surgeries performed by the Allen Urology Service each year. All aspects of adult urology, including urologic oncology, robotic and laparoscopic surgery, stone disease, neurourology and voiding dysfunction, erectile dysfunction, and general urology are offered at the Allen Pavilion. A da Vinci robot for robotic surgery was placed at the Allen Pavilion in 2008. Dr. Goluboff has performed over 1000 radical prostatectomies for prostate cancer, either by the open or robotic approaches. He has authored over 100 papers. He has participated in many clinical trials for new drugs for urologic disorders.
